Charlie is a principal engineer at Pratt & Whitney. He has the pleasure of working on the geared turbofan program. He enjoys helping airlines around the world safely diagnose engine symptoms and determine corrective actions that keep everyone safe. He also enjoys identifying processes and communication techniques that improve his team.
Charlie's career has been a winding path, beginning at the Federal Aviation Administration. His team was responsible for developing a noise and emissions model used to set environmental policy for commercial aviation. His next adventure started at Delta Air Lines, which was a defining season in his career. Delta taught him that commercial aviation is the perfect combination of his two passions, airplanes and people. While at Delta Charlie had the honor of working on the Airbus Fleet Management Team where he experienced two career highlights. First, he had the privilege to develop numerous co-op students who are now full time engineers at Delta. Playing a small role in their success brought Charlie great joy. His second highlight involved leading a team to develop an airframe part that improved the reliability of Delta's A330 fleet. The part just so happens to be named after him.
Post Delta Charlie spent several years working for Lockheed Martin's helicopter division, Sikorsky. He worked on the mechanical diagnostics (HUMS) team which monitors vibration signatures across critical components. Charlie supported various military programs at Sikorsky, but quickly realized his passions were back in commercial aviation. An opportunity to join a startup airline presented itself in 2022. Working for a startup airline gave Charlie the opportunity to "wear many hats." He gained invaluable experience establishing the airline's technical operations and enjoyed influencing both engineering and non-engineering functions.
Charlie lives in Connecticut with his beautiful wife, 3 daughters, and son. One day he hopes to send a daughter or more to Tech to raise the ratio. Currently he enjoys being a dad uber, driving his minivan to dance recitals, ninja classes, and swim lessons. Charlie enjoys spending time outside with his family and is involved in his local church community.
