Biography

Courtlan Hall grew up in Visalia, CA, and received his bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and master’s in Systems Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.

He has worked in aerospace at Woodward for 10+ years, starting as an electrical engineer designing motor controllers for flight control actuation systems, writing software and building automated test stands. Currently as a systems engineer in aerospace electronics, Courtlan is responsible for the development and management of requirements for flight control systems and the design of prototype and demonstrator units. He leads a diverse, globally-based team with multiple disciplines to ensure the streamlined development of innovative product designs. He engages with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that requirements and designs satisfy the customer’s expectations.

His expertise is in architecture design; verification and validation testing; and design, development and integration of avionics hardware.

Courtlan has served as a Woodward Mentor for eight years, offering interns and junior engineers technical and professional guidance.

Outside of work, Courtlan coaches his three-year-old son Nova’s soccer team and enjoys cooking, gardening and camping with his wife and son.
